La situazione della classifica software giapponese, dati Media Create, riflette quanto visto nella controparte hardware: poche novità e numeri tendenti al ribasso.
Con Dragon Ball: Xenoverse in versione PS3 e PS4 che si prende i primi due posti, tocca ancora una volta a Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi, terzo, tenere alta la bandiera del 3DS, seguito da Lost Heroes 2 e Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, settimo, si avvicina ai 2,5 milioni di copie, mentre Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS scivola in decima piazza.
Soliti volti noti anche per quanto riguarda il Wii U: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U e Mario Kart 8 resistono, pur con cifre modeste, nella parte bassa della classifica.
